Dr. Harr - do you actually think it is justice if the people are forced to be their own lawyers, even in felony murder cases in durham because of duke?

THAT is the problem. Would you actually advocate for people to do that if it wasn't durham, duke, or Ms. Mangum for that matter?

I believe that in many criminal cases, the defendants are not well represented by court-appointed attorneys. I believe, from what I have observed, that in many instances these defense attorneys sabotage their clients case to enable the prosecution to prevail.

There is no doubt about that in Mangum's case as Meier did everything he could to assure that she would be convicted... especially forcing her not to have Dr. Roberts involved... and in stipulating that Daye died of complications secondary to the stabbing.

Fact is that had Mangum studied her case, she would have been better able to represent herself and win an acquittal. I know that if I had been representing her that she would not have been convicted. One thing I would've done early on is fought hard for the removal of the one juror who tried to influence others by having them consider Durham's reputation. I would've fought hard to have him replaced by the juror who went to Judge Ridgeway... she was obviously intelligent and courageous and would've made an excellent juror.

In the future a Sidney Harr flog will be referred to as a "shlog."

Dr. Harr, should we take your new terminology as recognition that you finally understand the value of your comments?

http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=shlog

I was unable to pull up the urbandictionary on the library computer. Could you simply tell me what the definition is? I never heard the term used before and I therefore thought it was original.

From Urban Dictionary:
Schlog
(v.) The act of defecating into a sock, dipping it into water, and using it to beat someone, preferably in the face.

Josh wanted to pull a prank on garret, so he thought about shlogging him.

Josh was going to shlog garret.

That should have read "shlog", not "schlog"

Dr. Harr,

Can I please have one moment of your professional time if possible? I have a question: from your medical standpoint, theoretically, is it technically considered suicide if someone decides to 'go off' life support? What is the term that is generally given by a doctor to be used by the patient when they have to make that decision for themselves and call it some word to describe the theory behind what they are ultimately doing? Do you know?

this is a real question btw

Thank you for your question, but to my understanding, most people who are on life support are unable to request its removal... in other words, they are usually comatose.

Some terminally ill individuals can have a directive made not to be placed on life support if such a situation would arise in order to keep them "alive." I don't think such a situation would be considered suicidal, however.

I hope I've managed to answer your question.

"Schlog", of course, being either the act of overmedicating someone to the point of sedation or the state of being overmedicated.

that gomer is getting a little agitated, lets schlog him with haldol.

that patient in 302B is totally schlogged.

How gross. Thank you for enlightening me. This definitely calls for some reconsideration. Has the word "shog" been taken?

It is a huge problem that no one knows the facts of this case in regards to duke's and the ME's services and involvement in the discrepancies and malpractice, since they were not presented and questioned at the trial. It is sickening to know duke expects to get away with this too, and watch how they 'do it'.

It is apparent they do not actually give a hoot what people think of them.

I do think that Duke does care about what people think of them, that is why the mainstream media has been suppressing the truth... to keep the people from knowing. That is why Mangum's defense attorney Meier refused to bring it up... to keep the jurors from knowing the truth. The only source of truth about what really happened to Reginald Daye is found on this blog site. The only place... even though the mainstream media, politicians, and civil rights organizations have all been informed by me.

"Shog" is the act of snitching to the cops.

Dr. Harr,

I agree that anyone actually supporting Ms. Mangum would have been able to present the case in much different manner favorable to the defense of Ms. Mangum and the interests of the public, and even paradoxically the victim, his family, and the prosecution if you actually thought about it.

Horrible state of affairs in the duke / durham / nc judicial system that ultimately affects the lives of many in the USA. Perhaps that is why duke seems to laugh about the harm they cause so much and seem to think they can just do whatever ... it is so easy for them to corrupt, terrorize, and manipulate the system that it has become one huge joke that is funny only to them.

Would that be considered child endangerment if a parent who duke had issues with took their child (or was taken) to duke for medical services in light of this current case?

Like Ms Mangum now, would it be considered child endangerment if one of her children were taken to duke for medical services - say - if they cut themselves with a knife chopping an onion or something - since they may become dukes victim if duke wanted to try to pin child abuse or murder charges on Ms. Mangum or her children's caretakers as well?

I do not believe most people would be in any extra danger by being treated at Duke, because most opinions that might be negative towards Duke are not known to the health care providers.

I would rather not have to go to Duke University Hospital for some emergency treatment because I am known to be critical of it and have filed a lawsuit against it.

Daye was a tempting target for Duke because his death would be acceptable since he was an African American with a criminal record... and it could serve as a pretext for saddling Mangum with a heavy jail sentence.

Thanks for the elucidation.

Do me a favor, and find a word that begins with "sh" and preferably ends in "og" that does not exist in the urban dictionary or any other dictionary. (Don't expect to get paid if I use your word.)

If a competent adult signs an Advance Directive and/or refuses treatment/intervention (such as being placed on, or kept on a ventilator) etc....and dies...it is NOT considered "suicide". Another example of Harr's ignorance.

Anonymous said...

suicide is described as deliberately ending one's own life

so if end-of-life is choosen over the life support keeping a person alive, why would it not be considered suicide?

Anonymous said...

Competent adults have the right to refuse medical treatment in this country. If a patient has a terminal illness, is a competent adult, and refuses care...and dies....they die as a result of their illness (natural causse, in ethical terms), as opposed to killing themselves, or suicide. Patients with advance directives who elect to refuse treatment and who subsequently die....are not routinely considered to have committed suicide by carriers. I am aware of a few cases where benefits were withheld by a company because a competent adult refused care....but, in every case, the beneficiary eventually won the battle for the benefit payout. Read the case law and the extensive writings from leading medical ethicists.....

Dr. Harr,

The distribution of wealth in the United States of America continues its dramatic shift towards the wealthiest. Over the past decade alone, the top one percent of Americans have seen their percentage of the nation’s wealth increase from 40% to 43%. Over that same time frame, the bottom 80% of Americans have seen their dismal 9% of the nation’s distribution of wealth slip to 7%.

This disparity of wealth can be attributed to greed, with the well heeled and big corporations adopting tactics to improve their bottom line at the cost to consumers. Lobbyists, who are nothing more than professional bribers, are hired by big company CEOs to bribe politicians to pass bills that are profitable to their company’s interests. Many times these bills call for the deregulation of rules that are in place to protect the environment, protect workplace safety, to protect consumers from financial abuse, and to protect health by maintaining clean air and water.

The Dan River Coal Ash spill rings sharp as a false flag event as its story unfolds. Why would cleaning up the coal ash ponds cost a billion dollars? That seems a steep price for some lined ponds and dirt moving.

Why were they not situated properly to begin with? This seems like a planned strategy to increase customer costs, while making millions from overpricing the cost of the actual pond maintenance. Why were these ponds placed so close to water to begin with? Its not like the rivers or creeks moved in on top of the manmade ponds did they? Seems fishy.

Dr. Harr how bout calling them sharrlgs - as far as i know - it has no meaning as of yet.

I wonder how Durham's resident homophobe-bigot, Victoria Peterson, feels about Clay's advertisement on Harr's site? Must be kinda touchy around the J4N clubhouse these days.......

Did you mean "sharrlogs"?

I like it, but I think I would spell it by dropping one "r"... that is "sharlog" - that way it wouldn't appear as though I'm conceited.

Let me know if there's any definition for it as spelled "sharlog". Thanks. If it's all clear, I'll definitely use it.

She's not a homophobe-bigot, as you say. Any disagreement might be strictly along party lines as I believe she might be a Republican.

Anyway, the point is that Clay Aiken would be much better in addressing needs of his constituents than Ms. Ellmers... in my humble opinion.

I'm glad you didn't intend a pun cause that wouldn't've been funny. Yuk it up while you can because I intend to see that she's released soon.

Toxic spills and other environmental tragedies occur with deregulation of the energy companies. Regulations help protect human lives and property whereas deregulations help the bottom lines of corporations and big businesses who are in need of oversight.

I guess Sid is happily back from Las Vegas. Glad to see you back and continuing to spout inanities. You need to get your buddy from Indy Week to write another follow-up of your latest exploits in frivolity with the Duke stuff.

You are right Dr. Harr.

Sharlog has better ring to it - but you'd have to google it to see what it might mean already.

Sharrlg is kinda representative of the sound your brain may make as it trys to grasp the corruption and the way the durham / duke / nc / usa justice system continually ignores the duke malpractice and me discrepancies in the medical and autopsy reports which your flogs indicate in detail. Kinda like what duke did all those years with the coal ash ponds. Imagine how it will be with the fracking or off-shore drilling. 100 plus whales and dolphins all lying stunned on wrightsville beach from the seismic testing off-shore - not a problem - they'll be gone in a week or so. A huge tsunami when the fault lying dormat just off the eastern shoreline is rudely awakened - no big deal - the next big floating city will be bigger and better.

... an operation that will require more expensive operations to repair the damages from an then ultimately end in death with a few viable body parts left ... great ... we will make sure to charge 500 times the cost for each operation and then get paid for the pieces ... got any more like that?

sharlog sounds better
sharrlg is the sound your brain makes after viewing a sharlog and grasping its meaning
