I obtained those medical records about Mangum's visit to Duke Hospital's E.R. in 2006 for the purpose of giving a copy to Justin Glawe which he stated he needed for an article about the truths of Mangum's wrongful conviction to be published in The Daily Beast. As I stated, I felt terribly betrayed when The Daily Beast did not follow through with an objective article about Mangum on the tenth anniversary of the Duke Lacrosse case.

I have not been mulling over Mangum's medical records... I do not know where they are physically or electronically in my thousands of folders. So I cannot weigh in on any toxicology reports.; November 2, 2022 at 5:31 PM

Hey, Prince Humperdinck.

Lawsuits filed against the NC Department of Public Safety, now led by Eddie Buffaloe who took over for Erik Hooks, were Petitions for Writ of Habeas Corpus. The first writ against NC DPS was under Secretary Hooks and was based on facts of case. The second writ for Habeas Corpus with the NC DPS under Secretary Buffaloe was based on the report of Dr. Cyril Wecht reviewing the autopsy of Dr. Clay Nichols.

The first Habeas petition was denied, as was the second one recently. Currently, Mangum has a motion filed for a rehearing en banc (a review by the entire fifteen member appellate judges of the Fourth Circuit) with regards to the second Habeas petition. Though a ruling to deny the rehearing is likely, one has not been made by the three-judge panel as of today to my knowledge.

Regarding Crystal's case, strategy is in a holding pattern awaiting action by the State. Was hoping to have some movement by the 9th... but it seems as though the State has adopted the Trumpian strategy of delay, delay, delay. IMPORTANT INFORMATION!

Apologies for not being more active regarding comments, but I have been extremely active in trying to have Crystal released prior to Thanksgiving. The major project to achieve that end has been given a temporary setback due to what I believe is a delay strategy, despite assurances from the opposition to the contrary. Time will tell. Although prospects for Ms. Mangum's release before Turkey Day seems to have diminished, I still believe it is highly likely that she will be released by Christmas.

Although I believe racism is an integral part of the injustice against Ms. Mangum, and that comments regarding racism are relevant in the discussions about Ms. Mangum's case. However, I balk at comments accusing other commenters of being racists... and therefore have not, after much consideration, allowed them on moderation. I believe that such attacks on other commenters distracts and deviates from the essence of the topic.

Also, with regards to a supposed wager between commenters, I have not given it attention and am not involved. This blog site originates from the conservative South's city of Raleigh... not Las Vegas.

Hope to have major news on Ms. Mangum's case within a week to ten days.

If you mean the people of Wales (the "Welsh"), while it could be considered a slur, the term is not racist. Just as the term "hillbilly" isn't racist -- it's a slur against people from a geographic location, regardless of their race.

Only 4 of the 10 common dictionaries consider the term "Welch" offensive (and those that do vary on how offensive the term is), but none of those consider the term racist.

I still question the "conditionaly paid" statement from Nov 5, as it shouldn't take 11 days to deliver mail to Raleigh, North Carolina (home of a major USPS Processing and Distribution Center).

Kenhyderal is welcome to show proof that he did in fact send the check on or before Nov 5th. If he can do so, I will apologize for calling his November 5 comment a lie (I mistakenly referred to it as his "October 5 statement" in an earlier comment).

There are several considerations undertaken with approval of comments for publication. One has to do with the commenter. If a name, sobriquet, handle, etc. is used, then the likelihood is much greater than if someone uses "Anonymous." Also, if the comment is redundant... especially if it is silly, then there's the possibility that the comment may not be approved for publication. Comments that are likely not to be approved include those that attack, on a cruel and personal basis, other commenters for malicious purposes. And, of course, comments in violation of the kenhyderal Doctrine are not published.

First, I hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving Holiday with family and close friends... and hopefully with many blessings for which to be thankful. I am thankful for many things this holiday, not the least of which is the participation of commenters to this blog site which gives it relevance.

Unfortunately I was unable to have Crystal Mangum freed by Abe's first deadline of today. That is due to circumstances out of my control... essentially the Trumpian delay strategy adopted by the State's DHHS and Office of the Chief Medical Examiner. If the State eventually acts on the review of Dr. Clay Nichols' April 14, 2011 autopsy report on decedent Reginald Daye within the next few days or weeks, then the likelihood of Mangum's release before Christmas will be greatly increased.

Second, on Saturday, November 26, 2022, I will upload a new feature... an interactive questionnaire in which you, the viewer/commenter, can respond to questions relative to Mangum's case; questions that have been presented to the State some time ago. There will be two requirements for involvement: (1) you must enter a valid e-mail address; and (2) you will have to respond to all twenty "yes/no/unsure" questions. Also, only one submission will be allowed per e-mail address. I implore all viewers/commenters to respond. (NOTE: Dr. Cyril H. Wecht has taken the survey and his responses will be released in a couple of weeks.)
